Problem Solving - Master Class Skill Level 7

Practice Focused Problem Solving

Course Description
This level provides an opportunity for individuals to select their own personal subject area that they wish to study. This could be a long-standing problem, a concern or area of interest which can be connected to a particular service or organisation where the study should make a contribution to improving the situation.

Individuals conduct independent research and use their new found problem-solving skills to study a subject of their choice. In general, they are free to determine how long and how much they wish to study a particular subject. However, they can seek support in terms of learning such as research methods, sharing tasks and collaborating with others. Perhaps a way to describe it, is like doing a Ph.D where the person studies something in depth to create new solutions that can bring about change. However, the study isn’t about reaching some academic standard, it’s more about the result.

A personal example, as part of my work, I realised that a vital component was being able to solve problems and resolve conflicts. So, forty years ago, I decided to study the subject to find a universal problem-solving technique. It took about six years (three years part time and three years full time) to develop a workable solution. Since then, I have continued to study different aspects related to this subject and this website starts to provide an overview of the extent of the work.

A Master-Class Certificate of Achievement will be awarded on completion of this course.
